HCA Latin America

The first HCA Latin America Meeting took place online from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 24-25 September, 2020. The aim was to raise awareness about HCA in the Latin American scientific community and encourage collaborations with HCA. This Meeting catalysed the formation of the HCA Latin America Network, which now includes more than 120 members, from 12 countries in Latin America. With training workshops and meetings, the Network is building a collaborative spirit within the HCA Latin America community.

One of the Flagship efforts of the Latin America HCA community is Project JAGUAR (Joining All: Genes, immUnity And diveRsity). By sequencing immune cells from healthy individuals from distinct regions in Latin America, the researchers are shedding light on how ancestry impacts the immune system and response to disease.
